Industry duty profile
Conveyors for Warehouse & Packaging Lines
Warehouse handling is unit loads rather than bulk, so the constraints change. Instead of tonnes per hour you are working to cartons per minute, and instead of bulk density you are working to the smallest and heaviest box on the line. Roller pitch, cleat spacing and transfer gaps are all set from that smallest item, because it is the one that will jam. Where levels have to be linked, a Z-type conveyor does it with one drive; where floor space is tight, a spiral does it in a column.
What we normally build for this duty
4 areas
Gravity roller lines
Pitched 2–4° to suit the load, with roller pitch no more than a third of the shortest carton length.
Powered roller and accumulation
Chain, belt or lineshaft drive with zero-pressure accumulation zones where the line has to buffer at packing.
Z-type elevating conveyors
1–6 m lift between floors or into hoppers, with cleat pitch set from piece size and full-length skirting on the climb.
Flat belt transfer sections
Carton, sack and crate movement with side guides, and interlocks wired into the line sequence.
