Industry duty profile

Material Handling for Foundries & Rotary Furnaces

A foundry punishes equipment in three ways at once — heat, abrasion and shock loading — and most conveyor failures in a foundry come from a machine specified for only one of them. Sand comes off the shakeout hot and abrasive. Scrap arrives in lumps that land rather than flow. The furnace charging cycle is stop-start by nature, so drives spend their life at starting torque rather than running torque. We build for that: liners you can replace, flights you can re-face, and drives rated for the start rather than the average.

What we normally build for this duty

4 areas

Charging screw conveyors

Hardfaced flights, oversized shaft against deflection, replaceable discharge spout, drive rated for repeated stall-and-start against a furnace mouth.

Hot sand and shakeout handling

Drag chain and slat chain rather than rubber belt. Bolted-in trough liners so the wear item is a plate and not the machine.

Scrap and return feed

Heavy slat chain with shock-rated drives, and bucket elevators where the lift is vertical and floor space is short.

Sand reclamation lines

Screw conveyors and bucket elevators in the reclaim circuit, sealed against dust escape and sized on abrasive-duty fill percentages.
