Bulk Material Handling for Cement & Minerals
Cement and mineral duty is high tonnage and fine dust, and the two pull in opposite directions. You want the throughput of an open troughed belt and the containment of a sealed casing. The answer is usually a mix — troughed belt on the long horizontal runs with skirting and covers, screw conveyors where the material has to be sealed and metered, and bucket elevators for the vertical legs. What matters most is that transfer points are drawn properly, because that is where spillage and dust escape start.

Troughed belt lines
400–1600 mm width for clinker, limestone and additives, with impact idlers at the loading point and covers on exposed runs.
Screw conveyors for fly ash and powders
Sealed casings with proper shaft seals, sized at conservative fill so a damp batch does not stall the screw.
Bucket elevators
3–24 m lift, centrifugal or continuous discharge chosen for the material rather than for the catalogue price.
Transfer chutes and hoppers
Outlet sizing and wall angles set from flow behaviour, with skirting and dust seals detailed on the GA drawing.
