How we build it

An overhead conveyor is designed backwards from the process time. Track length is whatever the pre-treatment, oven and cooling dwell demand at the chain speed you need, and the hanger pitch follows the component swing. Bends, drops and rises are then fitted into the building. Getting the sequence right at drawing stage is the difference between a line that meets cycle time and one that never will.

How is the length of an overhead conveyor decided?

By process dwell time, not by the building. Multiply the required time in each stage by the chain speed and you get the track length that stage needs. Only then do you fold the track into the available bay.

What hanger pitch should I use?

Enough that components do not touch when they swing on a bend, plus a margin for the drip after dipping. It is set from the largest component and the tightest radius on the track.
